1

Ordering and payment

General information about placing and managing an order.

How can I place an order with Devon 4x4?

Orders can be placed through the Devon 4x4 website. For products requiring detailed vehicle checks, custom specifications or workshop fitting, contact the team before ordering.

Can I order by telephone or email?

The team can help with product selection and more complex enquiries by telephone or email. The available ordering method may depend on the product, value and information required.

What information should I provide when asking about a part?

Provide as much vehicle information as possible, including:

  • Vehicle make and model
  • Registration year or model year
  • Engine and transmission
  • Body style and wheelbase
  • Trim level where relevant
  • Existing suspension, wheel or body modifications
  • Vehicle registration or VIN when requested
Can I change an order after it has been placed?

Contact Devon 4x4 as soon as possible. Changes may be possible before the order has been processed or dispatched. Special-order, personalised or already-dispatched items may not be changeable.

Can I cancel my order?

Contact the team promptly with your order details. Cancellation will depend on the order's status and whether it contains stocked, special-order, custom-made or personalised items.

Why has the price of a product changed?

Product prices may change due to supplier pricing, exchange rates, shipping costs, product revisions or promotional offers. The price displayed when the order is placed is normally the price applied to that order.

Are website prices shown including VAT?

Check the price information displayed on the product page, basket and checkout. VAT treatment may vary according to the delivery destination and customer type.

2

Delivery and collection

Information about dispatch, carriage and receiving goods.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Delivery time depends on stock availability, product size, supplier lead time and destination. Estimated availability may be shown on the product page or confirmed after the order is placed.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery charges depend on the size, weight, quantity and destination of the order. The available delivery options and charges are normally calculated during checkout.

Do you offer free delivery?

Free-delivery promotions may occasionally apply to selected products, order values or UK mainland destinations. Any exclusions or conditions will be shown with the relevant offer.

Do you deliver large or heavy products?

Yes, although items such as bumpers, roof racks, chassis components, suspension kits and large body parts may require pallet or specialist freight delivery.

Someone may need to be available to receive and inspect the delivery.

Can I collect my order?

Collection may be available for suitable orders. Wait until Devon 4x4 confirms that the goods are ready before travelling to collect them.

Do you ship outside the United Kingdom?

International delivery may be available for suitable products and destinations. Large, hazardous, restricted or unusually heavy items may require a separate quotation or may not be available for international dispatch.

What should I do if my delivery is damaged?

Inspect the packaging and goods as soon as possible. Record any visible damage, retain all packaging and contact Devon 4x4 promptly with photographs and the order details.

What should I do if part of my order is missing?

Check the packaging carefully and confirm whether the order was dispatched in more than one parcel. Contact Devon 4x4 with the order number and a list of the missing items.

3

Products and vehicle compatibility

Help choosing suitable parts for your vehicle.

How do I know whether a product fits my vehicle?

Check the fitment information on the product page, including model years, body style, engine, wheelbase and any listed exclusions.

Contact Devon 4x4 before ordering if your vehicle has been modified or if the compatibility information is unclear.

Can you check compatibility using my registration number?

A registration number can help identify the vehicle, but it may not reveal every relevant specification or previous modification. Further information, photographs, measurements or the VIN may occasionally be required.

Are fitting instructions included?

Many products include manufacturer fitting instructions, either inside the packaging or through an online resource. Some specialist products are intended for professional installation.

Do products include all required fitting hardware?

This varies by product. Check the product description for included hardware and any additional parts required.

Existing vehicle bolts, brackets, wiring, switches, fitting kits or vehicle-specific components may sometimes be reused or purchased separately.

Can you help me choose suspension for my vehicle?

Yes. Suspension selection should consider the vehicle model, intended lift, permanent accessory weight, payload, towing use and typical terrain.

Provide details of equipment such as winches, bumpers, canopies, roof tents, drawer systems and auxiliary fuel tanks.

Can you help me choose wheels and tyres?

Devon 4x4 can help assess wheel diameter, width, offset, PCD, centre bore, load rating and tyre size. Suspension height, brake clearance, bodywork and intended use may also affect the correct choice.

Can larger tyres affect my vehicle?

Yes. Larger tyres may affect gearing, speedometer accuracy, steering clearance, braking, fuel economy, suspension travel and drivetrain load. Body or suspension modifications may also be required.

Can I fit a roof rack or roof tent to any vehicle?

Not automatically. The vehicle's roof-load limits, roof construction, mounting system, rack weight and product weight must all be considered.

Dynamic driving limits and static camping limits are not always the same.

Can you supply products that are not currently listed online?

Devon 4x4 works with a wide range of specialist manufacturers and suppliers. Contact the team with the brand, part number or product description and they can check availability.

4

Workshop and fitting services

Information about professional installation and workshop work.

Does Devon 4x4 offer a fitting service?

Devon 4x4 can professionally install many of the products it supplies, including suspension, protection, recovery, electrical, lighting, storage and touring equipment.

Contact the workshop for availability, estimated labour and booking information.

Do I need to book workshop work in advance?

Yes. Workshop work should be arranged in advance so that suitable time, technicians and parts can be allocated.

Can you fit products purchased elsewhere?

This may be considered depending on the product, condition, completeness, safety and availability of instructions or hardware. Contact the workshop before bringing the product or vehicle in.

Can you inspect my vehicle before recommending modifications?

An inspection may be advisable for complex builds, unusual vehicles or vehicles that already have significant modifications. Contact the team to discuss the project and whether an appointment is required.

Can several accessories be installed at the same time?

Yes. Combining compatible jobs can make planning easier, particularly where products share wiring, mounting points or require related suspension changes.

How long will fitting take?

Fitting time depends on the product, vehicle condition, existing modifications and whether additional work is discovered after installation begins.

The workshop can provide an estimated timeframe when the booking is arranged.

Can you build or prepare an expedition vehicle?

Devon 4x4 can assist with a wide range of touring, overland and expedition equipment. Larger builds should be discussed directly so the vehicle's intended use, payload, power requirements, storage and recovery needs can be considered together.

5

Returns, faults and warranty

What to do when an item needs to be returned or inspected.

Can I return an unwanted item?

Return eligibility depends on the product, its condition, how it was ordered and whether it was specially sourced, customised or fitted.

Contact Devon 4x4 before returning anything so the correct process and return details can be confirmed.

Can I return a product after attempting to fit it?

Products showing fitting marks, damage, missing hardware or signs of use may not qualify as an unused return. Stop installation and contact the team if compatibility or a possible fault becomes apparent.

Are special-order items returnable?

Special-order, personalised, custom-made or vehicle-specific products may have different cancellation and return conditions. Confirm these before ordering.

What should I do if a product appears faulty?

Stop using the product if continued use could cause damage or create a safety risk. Contact Devon 4x4 with the order details, product part number, description of the issue and clear photographs or video where useful.

Does the product have a manufacturer warranty?

Many products are covered by a manufacturer warranty, but the term and conditions vary by brand and product type. Installation, maintenance, misuse, overloading and unauthorised modification may affect warranty coverage.

Will I need to return a faulty item for inspection?

The supplier or manufacturer may require the item to be inspected before deciding whether repair, replacement or another resolution is appropriate. Do not return it without first contacting Devon 4x4.

Who pays the return carriage?

Responsibility for return carriage depends on the reason for return, the product condition and the outcome of any fault assessment. Devon 4x4 will confirm the appropriate process before the item is sent back.

6

Technical and product advice

Common questions about modifications and accessory systems.

Do I need upgraded suspension after fitting accessories?

Possibly. Permanent accessories such as steel bumpers, winches, canopies, drawer systems, roof racks and auxiliary fuel tanks increase vehicle weight and may affect ride height and handling.

Suspension should be selected for the vehicle's real operating weight rather than appearance alone.

Does lifting a vehicle affect wheel alignment?

Yes. Suspension lifts can alter caster, camber, toe, driveshaft angles and other geometry. Alignment and additional correction components may be required depending on the vehicle and lift height.

Do I need an air compressor for off-road driving?

A compressor is useful when tyre pressures are reduced for suitable off-road terrain and need to be restored before returning to normal road speeds.

Compressors may also operate air lockers, tools or inflation accessories when correctly specified.

What recovery equipment should I carry?

The appropriate recovery kit depends on the vehicle, terrain and whether you travel alone. Common equipment includes:

  • Rated vehicle recovery points
  • Suitable shackles or soft shackles
  • Recovery rope or strap
  • Recovery boards
  • Shovel
  • Winch where appropriate
  • Gloves and recovery dampener
  • Tyre deflation and inflation equipment
Are factory towing points suitable for vehicle recovery?

Not necessarily. Transport tie-down points and ordinary towing eyes may not be rated for high-load off-road recovery.

Use properly installed and appropriately rated recovery points designed for the vehicle.

Can I install additional lighting myself?

Some lighting kits are designed for straightforward installation, while others require vehicle-specific interfaces, relays, switches, CAN bus integration or professional wiring.

Installation must comply with relevant road-use requirements.

Can you advise on dual-battery and touring electrical systems?

Yes. System design should consider battery type, alternator behaviour, expected loads, charging sources, cable sizing, circuit protection and installation location.

Will modifications affect my warranty or insurance?

Vehicle modifications may affect manufacturer warranty terms, insurance cover, payload, emissions or legal requirements.

Notify your insurer and seek appropriate professional advice where necessary.

Is the information on the website a substitute for professional inspection?

No. Website information is general guidance. Vehicle condition, previous modifications, manufacturing changes and intended use may all affect the correct product or installation.
