each Defender hood stick set requires 6 of these in total and they fit 3 each side into the over door drain channel

These are used to attach the tensioning straps from the canvas roof through the extended oval slots and the D-ring end fitting is simply tensioned onto the hook to help stop the hood flapping and also to keep the side of the hood into the drain channel.
