Rhino-Rack Pioneer 6 Roof Rack System for Volkswagen Amarok The Rhino-Rack Pioneer 6 Roof Rack Kit provides a complete, vehicle-specific platform system for the Volkswagen Amarok from 2010 to 2016, combining the latest-generation Pioneer 6 with Rhino-Rack's dedicated Backbone mounting system. Rather than sitting high above the vehicle on conventional roof rack legs, the Backbone system is designed to follow the shape of the Amarok roof and provide a close, integrated installation. The result is a substantial 1500 x 1380mm carrying platform with plenty of usable space for touring equipment, recovery gear, camping accessories or work equipment. Pioneer 6 – Lighter, Quieter & More Versatile The Pioneer 6 represents the latest evolution of Rhino-Rack's platform system, with particular attention given to reducing unnecessary weight and aerodynamic drag while increasing the amount of usable mounting space. Unlike earlier platform designs, there are no channel apertures interrupting the mounting surface, allowing the full platform area to be used when positioning compatible accessories. Rhino-Rack has also increased the available mounting channels by up to 25%, giving you considerably more freedom when arranging equipment across the platform. More Freedom to Mount Your Equipment Additional East/West mounting channels make the Pioneer 6 particularly versatile when building a touring or expedition setup. Rather than being restricted to a handful of predetermined mounting locations, compatible accessories can be positioned around the rack to make better use of the available space. This makes it easier to build the rack around what you actually carry, whether that's an awning, recovery boards, storage equipment, tools, camping gear, water sports equipment or other roof-mounted accessories. Integrated Wiring The Pioneer 6 has been designed with wiring in mind, with integrated wiring capability within the platform extrusions. For vehicles fitted with roof-mounted lighting or other powered accessories, this provides a much neater way of incorporating wiring into the rack installation rather than having cables unnecessarily exposed across the platform. Designed Around the Amarok The supplied RVAB1 Backbone mounting system is specifically designed for the Volkswagen Amarok and provides the structural connection between the vehicle and Pioneer platform. Combined with the low-profile Pioneer 6, the Backbone helps create a much more integrated appearance than a universal platform installation while providing a secure foundation for the roof rack system. Detachable wind fairing inserts in the leading edge of the Pioneer 6 further help manage airflow around the rack, contributing to the quieter and more aerodynamic design of the latest platform generation.
