OME - Mitsubishi L200 Leaf Spring - Medium Load / 40mm / (1996-2006)

The Old Man Emu Dakar Medium Load Leaf Spring is designed for Mitsubishi L200 models from 1996 to 2006, providing improved rear suspension performance for vehicles carrying moderate additional weight while maintaining good ride quality when lightly loaded.

The six-leaf spring uses a two-stage design, allowing the vehicle to primarily ride on the main spring pack under lighter loads. As additional weight is added, the secondary stage provides further support, making it particularly well suited to an L200 used for a mixture of everyday driving, work, towing and touring.

DESIGNED FOR RIDE QUALITY AND LOAD SUPPORT

Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs are developed to provide more than simply an increase in ride height. Draw-tapered and diamond-cut leaves progressively distribute the load across a larger surface area, reducing stresses at the ends of the leaves while helping improve both ride comfort and spring life.

For this application, the primary stage uses five leaves with a spring rate of 34 N/mm, while a single secondary leaf provides a 68 N/mm spring rate. This progressive arrangement allows the suspension to respond to changes in vehicle load rather than relying on a single, consistently stiff spring pack.

BUILT FOR LONG-TERM USE

The tension side of each leaf is shot peened to reduce spring stress and improve fatigue life, while the complete spring is fully scragged during manufacture to establish its permanent set and reduce the risk of sagging over time.

Re-greasable nylon anti-friction pads help reduce wear between the leaf tips, and bolted leaf clamps allow anti-squeak nylon liners to be used to keep the spring pack quieter in demanding conditions. A flat axle seat provides a positive mounting surface and helps reduce unnecessary stress through the spring.

The spring also incorporates Old Man Emu's military wrap design for additional safety and is load tested to ensure it meets the required specification before entering service.

As part of an Old Man Emu suspension system, these springs can be matched with the appropriate front torsion bars and front and rear shock absorbers to create a balanced suspension setup around the weight and intended use of the Mitsubishi L200.
