OME - Mitsubishi L200 Leaf Spring - Constant 200kg / 40mm / (1996-2006)

The Old Man Emu Dakar Constant 200kg Leaf Spring is designed for Mitsubishi L200 models from 1996 to 2006 that carry significant additional rear weight on a permanent basis.

Where the medium load spring is intended for vehicles with more variable loading, this version is better suited to an L200 that regularly carries approximately 200kg of additional equipment. This could include permanently installed drawer systems, tools, recovery equipment, camping equipment or other accessories that remain on the vehicle for most of its use.

The increased spring capacity helps support this additional weight while maintaining suspension height and improving control over the rear axle.

DESIGNED FOR PERMANENT LOADS

CS023R uses an eight-leaf, two-stage spring pack consisting of six primary and two secondary leaves. The primary stage provides the main suspension support, while the secondary stage contributes additional support as the suspension is loaded.

Old Man Emu uses draw-tapered and diamond-cut leaves to progressively distribute loads across a larger surface area. This helps reduce concentrated stresses at the ends of the leaves and contributes to better ride quality and spring longevity despite the increased load capacity.

BUILT FOR WORKING AND TOURING VEHICLES

Each leaf is shot peened on its tension side to reduce spring stress and improve fatigue life. The complete spring is also fully scragged during manufacture, establishing its permanent set and reducing the likelihood of sagging over time.

Re-greasable nylon anti-friction pads reduce friction between the leaves, while bolted leaf clamps allow anti-squeak nylon liners to be incorporated into the spring pack. A flat axle seat provides a secure mounting surface and helps reduce unnecessary stress through the spring.

Old Man Emu also incorporates a military wrap into the design for additional safety, with every spring load tested to ensure it meets the required specification.

When matched with the appropriate Old Man Emu front torsion bars and shock absorbers, the Constant 200kg rear springs allow the suspension to be configured around an L200 that spends the majority of its time carrying additional equipment rather than being driven empty.
